Overview

Bardia National Park (968 sq Km) is home to the endangered royal Bengal tiger and Asian famous one-horned rhinoceros. The national park is located in Bardia district , far western Nepal  and is bordered by river Karnali in the west, the Churia range in the north. The Babai Rivers flows right through the park providing wild species with an excellent habitat.Bardiya National Park is the biggest proof that Nepal is much more than mountains alone. Besides the high peaks of the Himalayas, Nepal also has lush jungles full of wildlife.

It is the largest and most undisturbed protected area in the Terai, home to many endangered species including tiger, wild elephant, rhinoceros, swamp deer, blackbuck, gharial crocodile, marsh mugger crocodile and Gangetic dolphin. The enchanting birds found here are Bengal florican, lesser florican, Silver-eared mesia and Sarus Crane. The national park is full of open grasslands and glades ‘making it an ideal place for game-viewing.
This park is famous for elephant safari or jungle drive. During jungle safari or elephant safari you will come across small herds of wild elephants. You will see rhinoceros also in the park. Here you can gain an experience of your life time. While doing the jungle safari you can observe 642 species of animals, 407 species of resident and migratory birds, 125 species of fish, and 839 varieties of plants.

The climate of this part of Nepal is usually warm and has three distinctive seasons, October to March is moderate dry with warm days and cool nights, in April – May the temperature rises up to 45 degrees Celsius which is the best time to visit for a tiger encounter since the big cats come out for river water in this extra dry season whereas June – September seasons monsoon in this sub-tropical zone.
