Permits for Everest Base Camp Trek
The Government of Nepal imposes permit entrance fees to preserve the beauty surrounding Mt. Everest and other mountains in the Himalayan range.
For the Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek, you need entrance permits as explained below:-
Like any other trekking option, it also follows the same season that is of Spring and Autumn. Spring starts in March and ends in May. This season has a moderate climate and clear skies. There is less chance of rainfall and snowfall which makes things easier in this trek.
The same goes with the Autumn season. The clear weather and moderate temperature make your journey enjoyable. If you don’t like the trek with the crowd then winter season is best for you. This off-season, the temperature goes really low and there is a chance of high snowfall.
First of all, there should not be confusion between Everest and Everest Base Camp. Climbing Everest 8848m and trekking to Everest Base Camp 5364m is a different thing. Trekking to Everest Base Camp is easier than climbing Everest.
You may hear inspiring stories of 16 years to 80+ women trekking to Everest Base Camp. The trail leading to Everest Base Camp may be long and tiring but not dangerous. You should prepare yourself physically and mentally for this trek. It is better to take some precautions before climbing Everest Base Camp. Without it, this trek can be dangerous.
On average, it might take you an 11 to 14 days round trip trek to Everest Base Camp. The majority of the trekkers do it in 12 days. If you want to decrease the trekking days you can hire a helicopter. It might add extra expense to this journey, but also adds more excitement.
Trekking or hiring the helicopter is the best option for you to visit Everest Base Camp. After you land here in Kathmandu, you will take the flight toward Lukla. Lukla has one of the most dangerous airports in the world.
You will start your trek from Lukla itself to Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar. Following the Dudh Koshi, staying at Namche Bazar and a few other popular villages you will Everest Base Camp.
There is no fixed or exact answer to this question. Trekking to Everest Base Camp is famous for various things. From taking the flight towards Lukla to reaching Kala Pattar, everything is exciting.
You will visit Namche Bazar, the largest Sherpa settlement in the Khumbu region. It is also a gateway to Mount Everest. You will also see one of the largest Monastery in the Khumbu region, in Tengboche. Mountains like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, surround this beautiful monastery.
